You can expect a safe space with acceptance and gentleness. Your counsellor will ask you what brings you to counselling and from there we can begin to work together on what your concerns are.
Sometimes your counsellor may give you homework to do between sessions but the focus remains on you and the pace you want to go at.
We use a Person-Centred approach, which means you are shown empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuineness. Your counsellor will work with you, where you are at, without judgement. This approach follows the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. So rather than providing you with solutions, your counsellor will support you to discover your way forward.
Your counsellor may incorporate techniques from other modalities, such as Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy or Gestalt Therapy, if we both agree these tools will benefit you.
Our counsellors each have counselling qualifications and are members of Australian counselling associations. For more information, click on the "About" section of this website.
